Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

  • Prepare and review ship design drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Develop structural, mechanical, piping, and outfitting plans for vessels.
  • Conduct stability calculations, load analysis, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime standards, classification rules, and statutory regulations.

Project Execution

  • Coordinate shipbuilding and repair activities with production teams.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, and engineering deliverables.
  • Support dry dock and vessel conversion projects.
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned engineering tasks.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate inspections with classification societies and regulatory authorities.
  • Review welding procedures, material certifications, and testing reports.
  • Participate in sea trials and vessel performance testing.

Technical Coordination

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and shipyard departments.
  • Resolve technical issues arising during construction or repair.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and project documentation.

Cost & Resource Management

  • Assist in estimation of materials, manpower, and project costs.
  • Optimize engineering designs for cost efficiency and operational performance.
  • Support procurement team with technical evaluations of equipment and materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Shipbuilding Engineering.
  • Relevant experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or marine engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of ship design software such as:
    • AutoCAD
    • AVEVA Marine
    • NAPA
    • Rhino Marine
    • ShipConstructor
  • Familiarity with IMO regulations and classification society rules such as:
    • International Maritime Organization
    • Lloyd's Register
    • DNV
    • American Bureau of Shipping

  • Familiarity with ERP/project management systems
